An Introduction to
Nuisance Wildlife:
Nuisance wildlife in Florida is quite an adventure. Many factors come
into play. As you
move closer to the
equator, the species
diversity increases,
giving us more
species than many of
the Northern
wildlife companies
to deal with on a
regular basis. Many
introduced species
can not make it
through a frozen
winter and will die
off without proper
shelter. Yet, here
the animals can just
hang out in a tree
or burrow into the
ground.
And don't
forget that homes
are built next to
"wilderness" and
conservation areas
that 'look' nice, or
"tranquil". Our new
people
residents buy here
for the looks, and
can you imagine that
these wilderness
areas have animals
in them?! Not to
mention that your
new $50k tile roof
is water tight, but
animals can climb
right up and into
the attic. We can't
help the fact that
roofers think in
terms of water
intrusion not animal
intrusion.
Gotta' love
working in a
profession where you
don't know what
animal you will be
chasing tomorrow.
